ROTONDES

Monaco - 48 Boulevard du Jardin Exotique - 7 floors - 1942

  • Lift
  • Concierge

At 48 boulevard du Jardin Exotique, Les Rotondes reflects a period when Monaco’s architecture drew inspiration from advances in travel and industry. Built between 1939 and 1942 by Kevork Arsenian, Jean Notari and José Notari, the building adopts the principles of Streamline Moderne, an architectural movement strongly influenced by the age of ocean liners. Its cylindrical glazed corner sections, continuous balconies and horizontal lines create a façade free from unnecessary ornament, shaped around movement and continuity.

This design extends into the apartments, whose layouts and outdoor spaces vary according to their position within the building. Some feature terraces or balconies overlooking the coastline, Port Hercules or the Rock, while cellars and parking spaces are associated with certain properties. An elevator serves the seven levels of the building, complemented by a concierge service.

With its silhouette recalling the great transatlantic liners, Les Rotondes retains a distinctive architectural presence within Monaco’s residential landscape. Its curves, continuous railings and glazed surfaces reflect a vision of modernity that emerged before the rise of the towers now associated with the Principality. More than simply a residential address in the Jardin Exotique, the building remains a recognizable example of Monaco’s early modern architecture.
