At 19 Boulevard de Suisse, Le Schuylkill was built in 1963 and became Monaco’s first high-rise residential building. Designed by Joseph Fissore, the building takes its name from the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, the birthplace of Princess Grace. Its design responds to the steep terrain, with seven levels built into the rock while the upper floors are divided into three separate volumes.
Le Schuylkill is currently undergoing a major transformation led by ZHA Architects and Square Architecte. The project retains 75% of the existing structure and will provide 142 residences arranged across three cores, together with a new three-storey crown. Facilities include an 18-metre pool, fitness area, spa, clubhouse, coworking spaces and dedicated concierge services.
The renovation also focuses on the building’s environmental performance, with connection to Monaco’s seawater cooling network, renewable energy sources and rainwater and greywater recovery systems.
